A painting in his family home was the catalyst that led Daniel Barreto to pursue a career in art that he has today, working with digital installation, animation, and illustration. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1991, art was never far from Daniel’s world. Both his mother and grandfather painted often, helping to instill within him a fascination for the powerful ability of art to influence our thoughts and emotions. Daniel received his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/TUFTS in Boston. Today, that perseverance has paid off, as Daniel has directed several animation videos for musicians such as Natalia Lafourcade, Y la Bamba, Colleen, Caloncho, as well as working with brands on murals, commissions, and brand identity such as Uniqlo. His work is notable for its dreamlike quality, a characteristic inspired by his experience with lucid dreaming as facilitated by the book The Yoga of Dreams. Nature is a recurring theme throughout his art; he employs light and plants to encourage contemplation and peace. Daniel’s art has been exhibited in various countries around the world, from the Whitechapel Gallery in London to the Saint Cloche Gallery in Australia. Today, Daniel works from his studio in Mexico City, creating art that will evoke the same kind of awe and thoughtfulness in others that the painting in his childhood home once evoked in him.

Daniel Barreto es un artista experimental mexicano que ha establecido un estilo único e identificable con su uso de formas abstractas y colores vibrantes. Sus obras muestran un gran interés por la repetición y cómo la luz afecta a los objetos. El trabajo de Barreto es polivalente y multidisciplinar. Cuando se le preguntó cuál es su medio preferido, respondió: 'Creo que me gusta mucho la ilustración / dibujo, pero la animación experimental es lo que más disfruto, por la emoción de anticipar el resultado mientras trabajo en cada fotograma'.
El trabajo de Daniel Barreto ha sido exhibida en Times Square, Saatchi Gallery, FILE (festival electrónico de lenguaje electrónico), The Gifer (Festival de arte Gif), el Centro de Convenciones de Boston, el Museo de Arte Yuan de Beijing y más. Su trabajo ha aparecido en línea en "Boooooom!", "The Creators Project", "Vice", "Designboom", "Colossal", "Swissmiss". Daniel Barreto tiene su sede en Guadalajara, México.
